Wilma Bootsma

Wilma Bootsma, age 102 of Sibley, Iowa died Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Osceola Senior Living in Sibley. 

A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 8, 2026 at Christian Reformed Church in Sibley, with Pastor Ben Wiersma, officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Western Christian School or Dordt University.

Wilma (Beltman) Bootsma was born on a farm near Orange City, Iowa to Gerrit and Tillie (Evink) Beltman on June 28, 1923. She graduated from the 8th grade at Franklin #9 School near Sanborn, Iowa.

She married Harry Bootsma on February 25, 1949. They moved to a farm near Sibley, Iowa. She was a stay at home mom until the children were in high school. She then worked at Country View Manor as a nurse's aide and later at Chase Bag, now known as Hood Packaging. After 40 years on the farm, they moved into Sibley.

Her hobbies were her flower garden, reading, and traveling. She volunteered at Bibles for Missions in Worthington, Minnesota for many years as well as at the Treasure Chest in Sheldon. She became a resident of the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon in 2013.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Larry (Laura) Bootsma of Denver, CO, Darlene (Darrell) Teerink of Sibley, IA, and Corann Stevens of Denison, IA; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren; sister, Alice (Gary) Wiersma; brother, Elmer Beltman; sister-in-law, Thelma Tien; along with extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry; brothers, Tony (Leona/Evelyn) Beltman, Jim (Joyce/Gladys) Beltman, Bill (Kay) Beltman; brothers-in-law, Pete (Johanna) Bootsma, Percy (Helen) Bootsma, Ralph (Myrtle) Bootsma; sister-in-law, Priscilla (Bill) Wagenaar; brothers-in-law, Ted (Nellie) Bootsma, Garrold (Evelyn) Bootsma, Theron Tien, and son-in-law, David Stevens.
