Verlyn Dean Timmer was born August 30, 1957, the son of Arthur and Gertrude (Ohling) Timmer. Verlyn grew up on a farm 9 miles East of Ellsworth, MN and attended Ellsworth Public School, graduating in 1975. On September 20,1975 Verlyn was united in marriage to Karen Brower at Bethel Reformed Church. They became members of the church shortly after their marriage, in 1976. To this union, three children were born.
Verlyn worked for Jansma Cattle Company, Dale Kruse Dairy, and Kenneth DeBoer Dairy, before purchasing an acreage in 1976 when he started his own dairy herd. He taught Karen and their three children all about dairy and cattle farming during the years, and they would work alongside him helping on the farm. He sold his dairy herd in 2005 and started a cow/calf herd before breeding into a Red Angus herd. Verlyn sold his Red Angus herd in 2025 due to health issues.
In the past, Verlyn enjoyed hunting, fishing, three wheeling, and tractor pulling. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends. He would share his testimony at New Life in hopes that it would help others. His family remembers him as hardworking and admire him for his God given talent of being a Farmer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 50 years, Karen; children, Crystal (Adam) Top, Eric (Amber) Timmer, and Zachery (Brandi) Timmer; 8 grandchildren, Isabella Top, Olivia Top, David (Mariah) Aeikens, Alek Aeikens, Riley Aeikens, Julian Timmer, William Timmer, Zayden Dean Timmer; 2 great grandchildren, Carter, and Jalen Aeikens; siblings, Arnie (Doris) Timmer, La Vearl (Deb) Timmer, Darwin (Darla) Timmer, and Luella (Alvin) Smidstra; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whom he loved dearly.
