Sharon Mae (Ageson) Carolan was born on Sunday, April 30, 1944, in Rock Rapids, IA to Harold and Vivian (Oliver) Ageson. She was welcomed home by her older brother Robert and followed by her little brother Paul and sister Cheryl. Sharon spent most of her life residing in her beloved town of Lester. She lived in several cities across the country but always found her way back home because she was a Lester girl at heart. In 1966, she fell head over heels for the most handsome man she had ever met, Leo Patrick Carolan. Marriage and babies quickly followed. Seven children were born to this union. She was also blessed with 20 grandbabies and 2 great grandbabies.
Throughout her life, Sharon was the life of the party and was always up for a new adventure. Growing up and all through school, she loved to sing, act and play basketball. Sharon continued all these loves her whole life, even still shooting baskets last summer. She was an avid supporter of everything West Lyon and was even honored to be asked to be the baccalaureate speaker one year. Sharon worked at Ageson Interiors, her Dad’s furniture store, for many years. After that, she pursued her life-long dream and became a flight attendant for United Airlines for a few years. Sharon finished her working career at Carolan Rental working with her son, Jamie. She hosted many summer sleepovers and Nana Claus parties for the grandkids which will be life-long memories for all those involved. Sharon was a faithful wife, devoted mother, spectacular Nana and loved friend, but above all, she was a devout follower and evangelist of Christ. Sharon’s love, joy and laughter touched the lives of everyone she encountered. In her later years, Sharon battled dementia, but she never let it take her contagious love for people and joy for life. Surrounded by family, Sharon went to be with Jesus at the Doughtery House in Sioux Falls on Saturday, June 15, 2024. She will be missed by all but her love of laughter and for the Lord will live on in all of those she touched.
Sharon is survived by her seven children, Shawn (Julie) Carolan, Larchwood, IA, Beth (Bob) McSpadden, Parker, CO, Michael (Lesley) Carolan, Sioux Falls, SD, Mark (Veronica) Carolan, Sioux Falls, SD, Chad Carolan, Sioux Falls, SD, Jamie (Sherry) Carolan, Larchwood, IA, Sara (Gary) Rovarino, Cave Creek, AZ. 22 Grandbabies, Olivia ((Isaac), Amelia, Quinn), Isabel, Gabriel, Cooper, McKenna, Kenzi, Nikki, Tanner, Abbrielle, Brody, Connor, Thomas, Sydney, Mason, Madelyn, Kaden, Jack, Ava, Andronicus, Roman.
