Obituary

Sandra “Sandy, San” Sprock, age 80 of Sioux Falls, South Dakota died on February 12, 2026 at her home.

A funeral service will take place at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 16, 2026 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids with Pastor Amy Ryals, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

Sandy was born on November 12, 1945 to Richard and Helena Sprock in Northwest Iowa. She attended country school and later graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1963. She worked for the Sibley school, attended beauty school, and later made her way to Sioux Falls after her father suffered a stroke. Sandy worked many years at the Sioux Valley Daycare until it closed and then transferred to the gift shop (Sanford) until retirement.

Sandy had a special love for Lake Okoboji, sports, and most of all her family and friends. Bella was her pride and joy for many years and was treated like a true princess.

For several years, Sandy devoted many of her weekends spending time with and caring for her mother. Almost every Sunday, she would make a meal for any family to come and enjoy. Sandy loved to watch sports of all kinds, especially if it involved the Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburg Steelers. Sandy treasured her summers at the lake and took pride in tending to her flowers. She worked hard at keeping the entrance to Oars Campground welcoming to all.

Sandy’s nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, and great-great nieces/nephews meant the world to her. She also enjoyed phone conversations and spending time with her brothers and sisters. She was a natural caregiver who loved helping anyone and everyone she could. People often turned to her in times of need, knowing they would be met with kindness and a willing hand. Sandy loved talking on the phone and often chatted with friends and family for several hours at a time.

She is survived by her siblings: Dennis (Sandra) Sprock, Richard (Barb) Sprock, Kathy (Fred) Christians, Curtis (Pat) Sprock and many nieces/nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Richard and Helena Sprock, sister, Judy Schlumbohm, and beloved dog Bella.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
