Ronald Peters age 84, of Sibley, Iowa died Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, with Reverend Tim Nappe officiating.
Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Harris, IA.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30th from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.
Ronald Dean Peters was born on July 6, 1938 in Ireton, IA to Walt & Mildred (Johnson) Peters, eldest sibling to Dave, Denny, Pat, and Bob. He grew up in Ireton and graduated from high school in 1956. He continued on to Wayne State College in Wayne, NE graduating with a BA in Education. He taught high school math at Pierce High School in Perce, NE 1960-1962. He married Rosalie Yates of Hawarden, IA in 1961. In August of 1962 they moved to Sibley, IA so Ron could teach in the Sibley Ocheyedan School System teaching math, drivers education, industrial arts and more. Rosalie and Ron were blessed with 4 children throughout the years, Steve, Dan, Mark and Cara.
In 1992, Ron married Sheryl (Holle) Carstensen from Lake Park, IA who brought 3 children with to include into the family, Matt, Chris and Leah.
Ron retired after 42 years of teaching in 2002. He enjoyed retirement doing lawn maintenance for others and working part time at the grocery store in Sibley. He also did substitute teaching in the Sibley Schools and when he had to, enjoyed golfing with Sheryl.
He will be remembered for many things, but mostly for his sense of humor and how quick he was with a smile and of course his singing, especially Little Boxes.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheryl and their children: Steve (Laurie) Peters of Destin, Florida, Dan (Lori) Peters of Minneapolis, MN, Mark (Anne) Peters of Estherville, IA, Cara Peters (Terry Heiliger) of Sibley, IA, Matt (Lisa) Carstensen of Lake Park, IA, Chris (Brenda) Carstensen of Fairmont, MN and Leah (Jamie) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Grandchildren: Alyssa Peters, Erica Peters, Nic Peters, Jillian (Chris) Noble, Willam (Amiee) Bailey, Dawson Carstensen, Emma Niswander, Andrea Carstensen, Adam (Jenna) Carstensen, Kyuss Hintz, Miles Hintz, Kierston Johnson, and Ashtyn Diekman. Great grandchildren: Hunter, Jackson, & Colby Noble.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dave, in-laws Phyllis & Sylvester Holle, sister-in-law Randi Peters.
