Robert McKean age 63 of Sibley, Iowa died Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Senior Center in Sibley, IA.
Robert Charles McKean was born January 27, 1962, in Cabool, Missouri to Nola. He spent most of his younger years living in Des Moines, Iowa. He moved to Northwest Iowa nearly 30 years ago.
Robert worked different jobs in the area, but his favorite was working maintenance at the Americinn in Sibley. He enjoyed all types of racing. He raced in Worthington, ran go carts, figure 8’s, and always liked helping his friends work on their cars. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his father, Ned DeReus; life partner, Janet Hayden; daughter, Brandi Thurmond; twin brother, Jim McKean; siblings, Rennee Wright, Gary (Rachel) McConnell, Aggie (Mark) DeBoer, Patty McConnell, and Cathy (Dave) Tearney; stepson, Wayne (Michelle) Hayden; stepdaughter, Wendy (Derrick) Hayden Van Roekel; and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nola; and Grandma and Grandpa McKean.
