Robert “Bob” Roede age 80 of Sibley, Iowa died Friday, August 11, 2023, at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 17, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley with Reverend Peter W. Wagner, officiating. Livestream Link to Memorial Service
There will be military honors after the service outside the church by George E. Mudge American Legion Post No. 324, William F. Allard VFW Post No. 7373 and Iowa National Guard.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with the family present at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA.
Robert John Roede was born on September 1, 1942 in Sibley, IA, the son of Herman and Margaret (Walker) Roede. Bob grew up in the Harris, IA area and later graduated from Harris High School in 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 29, 1963 and was honorably discharged on April 27, 1965.
On February 10, 1967, Bob was united in marriage to Joyce Grave in Ashton, IA. They made their home in Sibley and to this union four children were born, baby boy Roede, Tammy, Tonia, and Terry.
Bob worked various jobs throughout his life such as AMPI, Chase Bag, and before retiring he worked for D & K Trucking. In his spare time helped with farming and did lawn care.
Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, the VFW, and American Legion.
His hobbies included fishing, playing cards, gambling, caring for his yard, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Joyce Roede of Sibley, IA; three children, Tammy Stofferan (Nick Logan) of Greenville, IA, Tonia LaCour of Jackson, MN, and Terry Roede of Sibley, IA; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Britany (Andrew) Boneschans, Tyler (Lina) Stofferan and their son Tate, Jacob McCreary’s sons, Emmett and Jasper, Shelby (Michael) Logan and their daughter, Harper, Devin Roede, Sadie Roede, and Hunter Freimuth; four sisters, Sharlene Duis of Ocheyedan, IA, Bea (Don) Platt of Sibley, IA, Rose Roede of Spring, TX, and Marlene Roede (Barry Johnson) of Mankato, MN; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by an infant baby boy; his parents, Herman, and Margaret Roede; infant sister, Debra Roede; brother, Richard “Dick” Roede; brother and sister-in-law, Randy, and Terrie Roede; sister and brother-in-law, Kay, and Stan Jansen; brother-in-law, Kenneth Duis; and grandson, Jacob McCreary.
