Raymond "Pat" Meyer

Raymond “Pat” Meyer age 89, of Rock Rapids, IA passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.

Visitation will the family present will be Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and contiune from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Lester, IA.  A visitation will start at 9:00 a.m. the morning of the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, considerations for memorials may be given to Apostolic Christian Harvest Call, Hope Haven, or Beecin Hospice.

Raymond Eli Meyer was born near Lester on November 9, 1936, to Alvia and Emma (Metzger) Meyer. He graduated from Lester High School in 1954. On September 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Twyla Bauman, daughter of Louis and Norma (Hodel) Bauman of Goodfield, IL. They farmed near Lester until moving to Rock Rapids in 1999. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, repenting and being baptized in 1965. Ray and Twyla were blessed with ten children: Teresa of Sioux Falls, SD; Dean (Linda) Meyer of Rock Rapids; Denis (Jill) Meyer of Rock Rapids; Dawn (Stan) Knobloch of Rock Rapids; Terry (Paula) Meyer of Rock Valley, IA; Merlin (Marilyn) Meyer of Rock Rapids; Brad (Trinda) Meyer of Lester; Joy (Eric) Kupferschmid of Rock Rapids; Jana (Paul) Miniex of Los Angeles, CA; and JoAnn (Willis) Nester of Rock Rapids.

Ray farmed until his retirement in 2011 and continued to help on the farm for many years after. His faith and church were of the most importance in his life as he raised and cared for his family. He looked forward to family visits especially on Sunday afternoons. He carried various roles in the church including being a Sunday School teacher and song leader. Pat and Twyla enjoyed traveling around the country, especially to Florida in the winter.

After several months of declining health, Raymond passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Twyla, ten children, forty-three grandchildren, and sixty-three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Earl (Barb) Meyer, and sisters Margaret (Eli) Grimm, Irene Banwart, Paulette (Norm) Zaugg, Lila (Mike) Wirtz, brother-in-law Robert Banwart, sister-in-law Elaine Wagenbach, and many nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Alvia and Emma Meyer; a brother, George Meyer; four sisters: Mary Lou Streitmatter, Doreen Meyer, Kay Banwart, infant Madeline Meyer, grandson Jaden Meyer, great-grandchildren infants Owen Meyer and Aylah Meyer.
