      Philip Prins age 83, of George, IA died Monday, May 3, 2021, at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, IA.

       A Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2021, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA with Pastor Bryan Anderson, officiating.  Burial will be held prior to the service at Holman Township Cemetery at Sibley, IA.

     Visitation with the family present will be Thursday, May 6th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA.

     Philip H. Prins was born on September 10, 1937 near Rushmore, MN to Henry and Jennie (Hassebroek) Prins. He was the sixth of ten children.  He enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard at a young age. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 18. He was a navy Seabee, and spent time in Guam, the Philippines, Hawaii, and Kwajalein Island.  On December 1, 1957, he married Gloria Ahders at her sister's home in Granada Hills, CA. They lived there for 2 years while Phil continued his service in the U.S. Navy. They returned to the Midwest, and eventually settled in Sibley, IA.  He enjoyed spending time with his brothers Leonard and Harry, playing horseshoes, fishing, and target shooting. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was in his element when his whole family was together, laughing and making wonderful memories.  Phil was employed by the Associated Milk Producers Inc., for 31 years. He was a very hard worker and a great example to his children, showing persistence and dedication.  He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA. He was a man of God, and his strong faith was very evident.

     He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Gloria, and four children Charlene Long, Flo deBoer, Ardell (Nancy) Prins and Valerie (Erwin) Heber. Also six grandchildren Jon (Marji) deBoer, Jennifer (Rich) Cobb, Melissa (Derrick) Nelsen, Anna (Ryan) Dehamer, Meagan (Matt) Heber and Alex Prins, two great granddaughters Gabi and Lilly Cobb, and baby de Boer.

     He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, brothers, his sons-in-law, Bob deBoer, and Steve Long, and an infant son.
