Patricia Philiph-Jones, age 71 of Sibley, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Community Memorial Health in Hartley, Iowa. 

A private service will take place Monday, November 11, 2024 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Patricia Philiph was born November 28, 1952 in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Willard and Ruth (Denny) Philiph. She grew up on a farm near Melvin with her brother and two sisters and attended Melvin school. 

After high school, Pat attended the University of Hawaii, obtaining her degree in psychology. She then furthered her degree earning her master’s in psychology at the University of Wyoming. 

She started her career in psychology in Salt Lake City, Utah before moving to Sibley and working at Southwest Mental Health Center in Worthington, Minnesota.

Pat was blessed with three children, Christopher, Vanessa, and Rachel. She always kept them very involved in sports and activities. Pat poured all the love she had into her children. They will hold close the memories of many adventures and trips they took.

Summers were filled with hiking, camping, fishing and Christian Music Festivals with some bonus reading and listening to audio books.

Pat also loved to garden and sold her fresh produce, jams and jellies at local farmer’s markets. Pat found great joy in her kitchen cooking and baking. She would arrive at family gatherings with a trunk full of food to share. 

Pat loved to road trip and explore in nature. She and her daughters enjoyed many vacations going to Banff, Jackson Hole Wyoming, Glacier National Park, the Tetons, Yellowstone, the Black Hills and many more. When COVID happened Pat and her youngest daughter made it a goal to go to as many state parks as possible, closer to home. Pat enjoyed going to the theater and always had a plan for the next show the family would attend. 

Finally, 2-1/2 years ago Pat was blessed with her first grandchild. Coralyn always brought a twinkle to her eye and a smile to her face.

Pat retired in 2021. She moved to Spirit Lake to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Christopher Allen of Mankato, MN, Vanessa Jones of Mankato, MN, and Rachel Jones of Spirit Lake, IA; her mother, Ruth Philiph of Ocheyedan, IA; 2 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Peg (Terry) DeYoung of Park Rapids, MN; and Paige (Shelley) Morris of Lake Park, IA along with extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willard; and her brother, Perry Philiph.
