Neal R. Brouwer, age 67, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Steen, MN.

A public visitation will be Thursday, August 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills.

A private family service will be on Friday August 7th, at Jurrens Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Eastside Cemetery, near Steen, MN.

Neal Roy Brouwer was born on July 29, 1959, in Slayton, Minnesota, to Louis and Gertrude (Baar) Brouwer. He was one of seven children. Neal was raised in Woodstock, Minnesota, where he attended Woodstock Community School and later Pipestone High School.

Following his education, Neal worked a variety of jobs. Neal retired from Buffalo Ridge Concrete in 2024. He was currently working part time for the City of Steen with town maintenance.

Neal and Margaret “Peg” Twamley were married in 2003 and lived in Beaver Creek and Hills before residing in Steen where they both currently lived.

Neal enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, trapping, hunting, and camping with his family. His favorite pastime was spent with his grandchildren playing baseball in the yard, going fishing, sledding, or anything the kids wanted to do. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and helping his brother break horses. Neal will be remembered as a good-hearted man who was always willing to help others.

On Sunday, August 2, 2026, Neal passed away at his home in Steen, Minnesota, at the age of 67.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Margaret Brouwer of Steen, Minnesota; his daughter, Misty Kolbrek of Steen, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Mekayla Halverson, Lexxus Wessels, Ryker Mathers, and Walker Mathers; two great grandchildren, Charley & Berkley Kuemper; his siblings, Dean (Carol) Brouwer of Lennox, South Dakota, Evelyn (Gary) Smith of Paynesville, Minnesota, Rob (Cherlyn) Brouwer of Hills, Minnesota, Sylvia (Dale) Kontz of Woodstock, Minnesota, and Russ Brouwer of Steen, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Vernon Fick of Luverne, MN; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Gertrude Brouwer; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Liam Mathers; and his sister, Joyce Fick.
