Maddy VanEngen, age 33 of Ocheyedan, Iowa passed away, Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at First Reformed Church in Sibley, Iowa with Reverend Brian Carpenter, officiating. Burial will follow at Ocheyedan Township Cemetery.  Livestream Link

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, August 31st at First Reformed Church in Sibley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made directly to the family are appreciated.

Madison Marie VanEngen was born May 10, 1993, the daughter of Mark Beck and Jan Hoffman in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up in Fort Dodge until the 5th grade when she and her family moved to Remsen, Iowa. She graduated from Remsen-Union High School in 2011. She attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, earning a degree in Early Childhood Development.

Maddy met Cody VanEngen in 2013, and they were united in marriage on May 26, 2017, in Le Mars, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Jax, Cash, Kolt, and Hallie. They made their home in Ocheyedan. In the past, she worked for Titan Machinery in Worthington, Minnesota. Her real passion was working with children. She worked as the director for Bright Beginnings before having to leave due to her health.

Maddy was a fantastic mother, her hobby was watching her children do their hobbies, whether it was watching the boys play baseball or football, or just being outside watching the kids play. She loved the outdoors, going for side-by-side rides, and camping. She would do anything for anyone and is so missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Cody and their children: Jax, Cash, Kolt, and Hallie; parents, Jan and Ron Hoffman of Remsen, IA; sister, Erin (Paul) Miller of Waterloo, IA; stepbrothers, Andy (Afton) Hoffman of Carlisle, IA and Alex (Alicia) Hoffman of Remsen, IA; parents-in-law, Ron and Shari VanEngen of Sibley, IA; sisters-in-law, Denise VanEngen of Brandon, SD and Casey (Dustin) Gust of Sibley, IA grandmother-in-law, Lois Bolkema; 10 nieces and nephews; along with extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Beck; grandparents, Bud and Shirley Miller, and Don and Lila Beck; grandparents-in-law, Larry & Hellen Schuck, Dale and Colleen VanEngen; and aunts-in-law, Vicki VanEngen and Pam Wollmuth.
