Lorraine Meester

Lorraine Meester, age 95, of Little Rock, Iowa died Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Crown Pointe Care Center in Sioux Center, Iowa.

A funeral service will take place at 10:30AM, Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Salem Reformed Church Ladies Group.

Lorraine Meester was born September 5, 1930, the daughter of Oltman and Harriet (Rust) Hickman in Ellsworth, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm near Ellsworth and attended Ellsworth High School and graduated with eight girls in her class.

After high school, Lorraine lived in Luverne, Minnesota with her grandparents where she worked as a switchboard operator.

Lorraine was united in marriage to her longtime friend from school, Kenneth Meester on July 25, 1952, at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. The couple made their home in San Jose, California, during Ken’s service in the Navy, and after his military service they moved to Little Rock, Iowa. She was a member of the Salem Reformed Church where she was active in the Circle Groups. She worked part time at the post office and worked for over 38 years at Frontier Bank. She retired from the bank and went to help at the Little Rock Grocery Store.

Lorraine was a very proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 70 years and also a member of the Little Rock Woman’s Club. She was a part of the Freedom Club at the bank where she enjoyed day and weekend trips.

Lorraine enjoyed baking angel food cakes and having coffee with her friends. A highlight of Lorraine’s life was the yearly fishing trips with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are two children, Randall (Janell) Meester of Rock Rapids, IA and Lori (Kevin) Huisman of Sioux Center, IA; six grandchildren: Matt Meester, Tom (Rachel) Meester, Kristin (Andrew) Stimpson, Marc (Lauren)Wermersen, Molly (Derek) Kreutzfeldt and Kaitlyn (Tony) Stoker; 13 great grandchildren: Eli, Charles, and Calvin Stimpson, Ford and Campbell Wermersen, Oliver, Emmett, and Kendyl Stoker, Tucker, Ronnie, and Tatum Meester, and Bo and Maci Kreutzfeldt; along with another great granddaughter due in February; siblings: Dorothy Rosenberg of Luverne, MN, Robert (Joyce) Hickman of Duluth, MN, and Paul (Jennifer) Hickman of Brandon, SD; along with many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and sister, Ruth Weise.
