Lois Marie Stueven

Lois Stueven, age 80 of George, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 12th, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, IA.

Family and friends will gather at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13th, then travel to the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Boyden, Iowa, for burial.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, with Reverend Alex Sloter officiating.

Lois Marie Stueven was born on December 3, 1945, in Hull, IA, the daughter of Alfred and Mildred (Reyelts) Winter. Her family lived in various places throughout her childhood, such as Hull, IA, Beaver Creek, MN, Boyden, IA, and later George, IA, where she graduated from George High School.

On September 9, 1963, she was united in marriage to Harold Stueven. They lived on a farm near George. To this union, four children were born: Kevin, Nancy, Mark, and Scott. Lois worked for K-Products for a time and drove a bus for George Little Rock Public Schools. Following the death of her husband, Harold, she worked for a bank in George. She had been a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Boyden, and was currently a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Lois enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, putting puzzles together, mowing the lawn, and driving a bus.

Lois is survived by her four children, Kevin Stueven of George, IA, Nancy (Paul) Salonia of Oxford, NC, and their children, Justin, Emily and Sarah, Mark (Becky) Stueven of George, IA, and their children, Jessy (wife, Kaylee), Ashley, and Gregory, Scott (Michelle) Stueven of Heron Lake, MN; three siblings, Virgil Winter of Terre Haute, IN, Norman (Gaylynn) Winter of Terre Haute, IN, and Arvin Winter of Tucson, AZ; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mildred Winter; husband, Harold Stueven; daughter in infancy, Phyllis Stueven; and three brothers, Dennis, Keith, and Wendell.
