Leon Kruger age 95 of Worthington, MN died Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN.

Memorial service will be held on June 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA, with Pastor Chris Lemmon officiating.

Burial will be in the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton, IA, with military honors by the George E. Mudge American Post No. 324, William F. Allard VFW Post 7373, and the U.S. Army National Guard.

Leon M. Kruger was born on May 24th, 1929 in Ashton, Iowa to Jake and Irene Kruger. He graduated from Ashton High School in 1946 and worked on the family farm and various jobs in construction. In 1950 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until 1954. He was united in marriage to Deana Zevenbergen. They made their home on a dairy farm near Woodstock, MN. After a car accident claimed the lives of Deana and daughter Louise in 1961, Leon married Margaret Lorang in 1963. They continued to farm at Woodstock until 1974 and moved to Adrian, MN. Leon continues to farm and served on the township board and did some tax assessing. After moving to Bigelow in 1986, he worked at UBC, Lamperts and Coast to Coast in Worthington. Moving to Sibley in 1997, he went to work at the Ace Hardware Store and spent many happy years there, working well into his seventies. They moved to Worthington and later Leon went to the Luverne Veterans Home and enjoyed the care and fellowship he received there. He passed with Margaret beside him.

Leon loved to learn. He was always interested in current events and was an avid reader. He was handy and could fix almost anything. He loved helping customers. He played a great game of checkers and enjoyed pinochle. He had a strong will and a fierce faith in God. He loved to laugh and could tell some terrific jokes. He enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends.

He will be missed by many. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Margaret, Dan (Julie) Kruger of Lake Benton, Diana (Dennis) Shearon, Brenda Kruger, Jack Kruger and Linda (Terry) Neugebauer. He leaves 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Blessed be his memory.
