LaVonne “Bonnie” Pomrenke age, 83 of Sibley, Iowa died Saturday, October 1, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA, with Pastor Maggie Gisch officiating.
Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley.
LaVonne Lea Pomrenke was born on June 15, 1939, in Brewster, MN, the daughter of Harvey and Etta (Bryngelson) Gerdes. Bonnie grew up in Worthington, MN and attended school there. She was united in marriage to George Pomrenke Jr. on October 7, 1955, in Allendorf, IA. Bonnie was a homemaker, worked as a cook at the Hospital for 2 years and Sibley Nursing and Rehab (now known as, Sibley Specialty Care) for 22 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley. Her hobbies included cooking and baking, Bonnie was known for her Sunday Fried Chicken and her Scotcharoos. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, plants, helping her husband George with his woodworking projects, and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bonnie is survived by her 9 children, Kim (Dan) Hohbach of Hospers, IA, Greg (Debi) Pomrenke of Nixa, MO, LeAnn (Mike) Dagel of Sibley, IA, Linda Julius of Sibley, IA, Jerry (Teresa) Pomrenke of Milford, IA, Scott (Colette) Pomrenke of Orange City, IA, Rick (Missy) Pomrenke of Lincoln, NE, Alisa (Matt) Russell of Bigelow, MN, and Gina (Brian) Marco of Sibley, IA; 33 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren, and anxiously waiting for 2 more in December; 1 sister, Delma (Larry) Clausen of Brewster, MN; in-laws, Elnora Dirks of Ocheyedan, IA, Glenden (Betty) Pomrenke of Worthington, MN, and Erma (Dan) Mairose of Le Mars, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, George Pomrenke Jr.; 2 sisters, Gayla Tiesler and Eileen VanLangen; 2 grandsons, Christopher Pomrenke and Rick Benz; 1 great-granddaughter, Kamren Julius; and a son-in-law, Brad Julius.
