Kristi Ter Wee age 61 of Sioux Falls, SD, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Inwood, IA, with Pastor Tim Voigt officiating. Burial will be at the Larchwood Cemetery in Larchwood, IA.
Public visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday morning at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.
Kristi Joelle was born on April 8, 1964, in Canton, SD, the daughter of Peter and Mickey (Johnson) Ter Wee. Kristi and her family lived in Sioux Falls, until her early years of school, when they moved to a farm south of Larchwood, IA. She graduated from West Lyon High School in 1982. She continued her education at Licensed Technical Institute receiving her LPN degree.
She moved to Alcester, SD shortly after Nursing school and began her nursing career at Alcester Care & Rehab, working there for 10 years. She then continued nursing at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD for another 10 years. Then she proceeded to get a job in Sioux Falls, SD and worked at Dakota Abilities for 15 years while moving to Sioux Falls in 2016
Through the years Kristi enjoyed camping, watching Minnesota Vikings games, watching TV shows, especially Law & Order and other crime shows. She also loved playing card games with her family. Kristi was a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her family and was always so excited to get together and see everyone. The apple of her eye was her son, Andrew and her adorable granddaughters, Ivy, Wynter, and Tilly. They were her pride and joy. She also was a nurse and took great pride in her work. She had a caring heart and loved what she did. She made some lasting impressions on her patients and coworkers.
Due to failing health Kristi entered Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA in July of 2025, where she remained until her death this past Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She will be remembered as an accepting and kind person who had the ability to focus on others’ needs.
She is survived by her son, Andrew (Savannah Tranby) Ter Wee of Hawarden, IA; three granddaughters, Ivy, Wynter and Tilly Ter Wee, all of Hawarden, IA; brother, Dan (Sheila) Ter Wee of Inwood, IA, and their children, Derek, Laura, Joel and Paul; sister, Joni (Mark) DeBruin of Larchwood, IA, and their son, Josh; sister, Sara (Jim) De Smet of Larchwood, IA, and their children, Jordan and Carson; and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mickey Ter Wee.
