Kevin Hertz Funeral Service Recording

Kevin Hertz, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away suddenly on July 10, 2026. He will be remembered for his steady support, strong values, and the care he showed to his family and community.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the family present at the Ocheyedan Town Hall in Ocheyedan.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Ocheyedan Town Hall in Ocheyedan, Iowa, with Pastor Steve Swenson officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of Ocheyedan, Iowa.

Kevin was born on December 12, 1954, to Clayton and Lenore (Mansfield) Hertz. He grew up in Malvern, Iowa, where he developed the values that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Malvern Community Schools in 1973 and later earned a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska Omaha.

On August 2, 1975, Kevin married Marcellan (Marcie) Sinner. Together they built a life centered on family and community, making their home in Ocheyedan, Iowa.

Kevin worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years, forming lasting relationships and taking care of his clients. He was also active in his community, serving on the Sibley-Ocheyedan School Board, the Ocheyedan Ambulance as an EMT, the Fire Department, the Osceola Regional Health Center Hospital Board, and the Ocheyedan City Council.  Kevin was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Family was most important to Kevin. He was the proud father of four children and rarely missed a game, concert, or activity. He enjoyed supporting his kids and later his ten grandchildren, especially attending their events and cheering “loudly” from the sidelines.

Kevin valued time with family and friends. He enjoyed visiting, sharing stories, and helping others when he could. He especially enjoyed Hertz Family vacations and any trip where he got the opportunity to “smell the pines”. He will be remembered for his kindness and the many relationships he built over the years.

Kevin is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Marcie of Ocheyedan, IA; his children, Kara (Chad) Rasmussen of Sioux Falls, SD; Clint (Stacy) Hertz of Ames, IA; Craig (Mallory) Hertz of Dakota Dunes, SD; and Casey (Michaela) Hertz of Sibley, IA; and his ten grandchildren, Cooper, Cayden, and Carson Rasmussen; Caraline and Clayton Hertz; Keegan, Kiersyn, and Kaizlyn Hertz; and Camden and Callie Hertz; along with many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Lenore Hertz; his brothers, Clayton and Karl Hertz; and his parents-in-law, Norman and Frances Sinner.
