John Breuer age 77, of Rock Rapids, IA died Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Avera Merril Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.
Visitation will be Monday, November 25, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Bethel Reformed Church rural Little Rock, IA.
Private family burial with military honors at Pleasant View Cemetery of Little Rock, IA will be held prior to the memorial service.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Bethel Reformed Church rural Little Rock, IA with Rev. Scott Van Ravenswaay officiating.
John Wallace Breuer was born on August 15, 1947, to Walt and Ora (Wilts) Breuer in Sibley, Iowa. He attended country school Viola #4 near Sibley. After becoming an established farmer, John was drafted into the US Army in January of 1967 and served in the Vietnam War. He was wounded in combat on September 28, 1967, and was honorably discharged in May of 1968. Upon returning home, he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was privileged to resume farming in rural Little Rock and soon began his own dairy farm.
He married Myra Tiedeman on September 19, 1969. They were blessed with six children. After John retired from farming, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of seeing the countryside and became a coast-to-coast truck driver. John and Myra moved to Rock Rapids in December 2006. They enjoyed many road trips to Arizona and California to visit their friends and family. Together they created a lasting legacy in 55 years of marriage, memories and meaningful work.
Survivors include his wife, Myra; 6 children, Lora (Bill) Rozeboom, Leah (Bruce) Dagel, Tami (Rod) VanderVeen, Teresa (Matt) Widboom, James (Kelli) Breuer, Marie (Lance) Kruse; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Rahfaldt.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Jim Meendering; brother-in-law, Doug Rahfaldt.
