Jeffrey DeBoer, age 66 of Rock Rapids, IA died Monday July 26, 2021, at his residence with his family by his side.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Bethel Reformed Church, rural Little Rock, IA, with Reverend Scott Van Ravenswaay officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.
Jeffrey Keith DeBoer was born on January 26, 1955, the son of Kenneth and Eleanor (Reemtsma) DeBoer. He was raised on the family farm west of Little Rock, IA. He attended Little Rock Community Schools through the 10th grade and later received his GED in 2009.
On September 29, 1978, he was united in marriage to Judy Hanzen, who was the love of his life, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Alvord, IA. They were blessed with two daughters. The couple made their home northeast of Ellsworth, MN, where they farmed from 1978 to 1984 when they moved to Rock Rapids.
Jeffrey accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized and became a member of the Bethel Reformed Church. He loved reading the Bible and usually read it beginning to end several times each year. He especially enjoyed reading Bible commentaries and reading Matthew Henry and Spurgeon’s sermons. His faith carried him through many trials throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, son-in-law & grandchildren and cherished their visits.
He went to be with his Lord & Savior on July 26, 2021, with his family by his side.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty-two years, Judy DeBoer of Rock Rapids, IA; daughter, Ginger (Andy) Ebel of Sutherland, IA; six grandchildren, Grace, Avery, Landon, Abbie, Logan and Bethany Ebel; his mother, Eleanor DeBoer of Little Rock, IA; six siblings, Renae (David) Vander Schaaf of Alton, IA; Kevin (Alleen) DeBoer of Ellsworth, MN; Rhonda Schuck of Little Rock, IA; Cynthia (Jeffrey) Vander Weide of Maurice, IA; David (Heather) DeBoer of Little Rock, IA; Melanie (Jerry) Van Grouw of Orange City, IA, and Don (Dawn) DeBoer of Little Rock, IA; brother-in-law, Daryl Hanzen of Doon, IA; three sisters-in-law, Pamela (Wes) VanVoorst of Orange City, IA; Cherrie Hill of Rock Rapids, IA and Jill (Randy) Anderson of Harrisburg, SD; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joni; father, Kenneth; two brothers, Larry in infancy and Terry; niece and nephew, Sophia and Matthew DeBoer; grandparents, Jake and Bena DeBoer and Theodore and Louise Reemtsma; and father and mother-in-law, Walter and Gladys Hanzen.
