Jean Marie Schryver

     Jean Marie Schryver age 97 of Sibley, Iowa died Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Country View Manor in Sibley.

     A Private funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

     Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley.

     Jean Marie Schryver was born on May 16, 1924, in Canton, SD, the daughter of Le Roy and Mineva (Laxson) Perry.  She grew up in Canton and later graduated from Canton High School in 1942.  Jean then received her bachelor’s degree in education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD.

     On March 29, 1945, she was united in marriage to Robert Schryver at her grandparent’s home in Canton, SD.  To this union two daughters were born. 

     After raising her daughters, Jean taught middle school English for twenty-six years in Sibley and later retired in 1986.

     She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Sibley, where she was very involved and taught Sunday school.  Jean was also very involved in the community and was a member of PEO Chapter CE and Sibley Zoning Board.

     She enjoyed golfing, writing poetry, articles, and stories.  She especially loved spending time with her family on East Lake Okoboji.

     Jean is survived by her two daughters, Suellen Schutte of Sibley, IA and Dee Ann Overman of Hull, IA; four grandchildren, Neil (Shelly) Schutte of Sibley, IA, Abbigail (Aaron) Wych of Grimes, IA, Lindsay (Jason) Van Holland of Sheldon, IA and Brian Overman of Hull, IA; ten great grandchildren, Kaleb, Emily, Kaden and Kole Schutte, Gavin and Aspen Van Holland, Boston and Pierre Overman; and Kate and Nora Wych; and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Le Roy and Mineva Perry; husband, Robert “Stretch” Schryver; son-in-law, Doug Schutte; and brother-in-law, Edwin Schryver.
