Jean Marie Borchers

Jean M. Borchers, age 74 of Beaver Creek, MN died Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Luverne, MN.

The visitation will be Tuesday, April 22nd, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home in Hills, MN.

The family will have a private burial that will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Beaver Creek, MN later.

Jean Marie Borchers was born January 28, 1951, in Yankton, South Dakota, the daughter of Lester Earl and Rosella (Brandt) Powers. She was raised in Avon, SD and attended Avon Community School. She graduated in 1969 and continued her education at Stewart School where she studied Cosmetology.

She began working as a beautician and during that time she met her future husband, Russell Lee Borchers. They were united in marriage on September 15, 1972, in Avon, SD. They moved to the Borchers homestead farm east of Hills, MN. She continued as a hairstylist for a brief time, before she began working at K-Products in Rock Rapids, IA. She left K-Products after 26 years and began working as a nurse’s aide at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. She retired in 2013.

Jean enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and making clothing for her family and cabbage patch dolls. She was an avid sprint car race fan, attending races in Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD, Jackson Speedway and Knoxville Raceway. She especially enjoyed camping with her family for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Russell Borchers of Beaver Creek, MN; two sons, Scott Borchers of Noth Sioux City, IA and Jason (Teri) Borchers of Sioux Falls, SD; a granddaughter, Arielle Borchers; two brothers, Kenneth (Florence) Powers of Avon, SD and Dale (Nancy) Powers of Painted Post, NY; brother-in-law, Darrell (Alvina) Borchers of Sioux Falls, SD and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Rosella Powers.
