Imogene Rasmussen, age 80 of Sibley, Iowa, died Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 26th, at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the First Reformed Church in Sibley, with Reverend Brian Carpenter officiating.

Burial will follow a light lunch and fellowship time in the church fellowship hall at the Eastlawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa.

Imogene Faye (Mastbergen) Rasmussen was born on May 25, 1945, at the Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of John and Hazel (Kleinheksel) Mastbergen. She lived on a farm near Sheldon, where she attended country school through 5th grade. In 1956, she and her family moved to another farm near Sibley, graduating from Sibley High School in 1963. On June 26, 1964, Imogene was united in marriage to Junior Rasmussen, and to this union two children were born, Nat and Sean. Imogene worked for Dr. T.J. Carroll prior to having her first child, Nat, and later became a stay-at-home mom. From 1983 to 1988, Imogene was a Travel Consultant at Sunset Travel Agency in Sibley. She and her family enjoyed many years together in Sibley, attending the First Reformed Church, and other school/community activities. Vacationing together was also a highlight. Imogene loved baking, cooking, golfing, and reading. She especially enjoyed time spent with the neighbor ladies on Thursday mornings, monthly get-togethers with her bible study group, and daily walks with her friend, Elaine Ten Napel.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 62 years, Junior Rasmussen of Sibley, Iowa; two children, Nat Rasmussen of Omaha, Nebraska, and Sean Rasmussen of San Diego, California; brother, Larry (Donna) Mastbergen of Fort Collins, Colorado; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Mastbergen.
