Helen Hensch age 99 of Sibley, Iowa died Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley. 

Visitation will be Sunday, October 6th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA. 

The Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA, with Pastor Josh Lucas officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church for a designated project in memory of Helen. 

Helen Catherine Hensch was born on April 4, 1925, at Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Richard S. and Tracy (Pomerenke) Johnson. She grew up in Sibley and attended Sibley Community Schools. 

On December 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Fred Hensch at Sibley. Fred's daughter, Phyllis, was joined in this new family by Joanne, Doug, Lesa, Dan & Paul. Fred & Helen were married for 40 years and lived and enjoyed farming and farm life near Sibley. Fred passed away in 1988 and Helen remained on the farm the rest of her life. 

Helen was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where she helped with various activities, Osceola Community Hospital Auxiliary, and Cloverdale Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, playing cards with neighbors & family, especially “UNO” with grandchildren, being a “farm wife”, and being grandma. Helen shared her bountiful garden, sweet corn, eggs and baked goods with all, along with all the visiting that entailed. She provided countless memories and appreciated all who stopped in to visit. 

Helen's family: Phyllis Stachour, (deceased) & husband Jim, of Bettendorf, IA and their children Nancy and Cathy; Joanne Pickering, (deceased) and her children, Jeff, Chad, Stacy & Kim; Doug & wife Carole Hensch of Sibley, IA, and their children Brad, Molly, Joseph, & Mark; Lesa, & husband Dan Kruger, of Sibley, IA and their children Sara, Rita, Kari & Kyle; Dan & wife Sandra Hensch of Sioux Falls, SD, and their children Eric & Alek; and Paul Hensch and his son, Skyler also of Sioux Falls, SD; 36 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hensch; two daughters, Phyllis Stachour and Joanne Pickering; grandchild, Michaela Hensch; great-great-grandchildren Keegan and Jayden Mohr; her parents, Richard S. and Tracy Johnson; two brothers, Elmer and Richard L. Johnson and son-in-law, Gary Pickering.
