Harold Haspels, age 82 of George, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the George Good Samaritan Society in George, IA.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 23rd at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, with Pastor Bryan Anderson officiating. Funeral Service Livestream Link
Harold James Haspels was born April 25, 1943, in Boyden, IA, the son of George H. and Geneva (Moret) Haspels. Harold was raised on a farm near Boyden, IA. He graduated from Boyden Hull High School in 1962.
In 1965 Harold’s parents bought a farm west of Little Rock, IA. Together Harold and his family farmed the land and raised hogs and sheep. During that time Harold enjoyed his passion of Harley Davidson motorcycles.
In 1969 he met his love, Beverly Ann Lentfer, on a double date with good friends. Harold and Bev were married on August 11, 1971, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, IA. Harold and Bev came to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior at a Lowell Lundstrom Crusade in Sheldon, IA, in 1972. They were baptized by immersion in February, 1983; Praise the Lord! In 1973 Harold and Bev purchased a farm east of his parents. Two children, Larry and LaRae, were joyously welcomed into their home. After a life full of blessings and hard work, they retired in 2015 and in 2024 moved to their home in George.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Beverly Haspels; two children, Larry Haspels of Little Rock, IA, and LaRae (Paul) Denekas of George, IA; five grandchildren, Johnathan Haspels of Little Rock, IA, Ellyanna Haspels of Sioux Falls, SD, Shealyn (Austin) Dixon of Harrisburg, SD, Andrew Denekas and Aubrey Denekas, both of George, IA; two sisters, Marlys (Richard) Wolff of Avon, MN, and Joyce (Harris) Mulder of Rock Rapids, IA; many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Geneva Haspels; parents-in-law, George and Lorraine Lentfer; and his daughter-in-law, Sheila Haspels.
