Frederick Laubenthal, age 66 of Harris, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at his home in Harris.

Frederick Joseph Laubenthal was born August 4, 1959, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the son of Robert and Opal (Strohman) Laubenthal.

In the past, he worked for Hurst Salvage, Humbolt Salvage, and most recently Nolin Milling. He enjoyed woodworking, working on vehicles, fishing, and scrapping. He also volunteered for the Dickens and Royal Fire Department.

He was a collector of steins, knives, and Harley items. His biggest joy was teaching his grandchildren things.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Chelsea August of Dickens, IA; 2 grandchildren, Presleigh and Cameron August; siblings, Dave (Patty) Laubenthal of Spencer, IA; Nick Laubenthal of Harris, IA, Janet Laubenthal of Ruthven, IA, Joel Laubenthal of Sioux Falls, SD, and Barb (Chad) Trierweiler of Rossie, IA; along with many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Opal; paternal grandparents, George and Mary Laubenthal; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Mable Strohman; along with aunts and uncles. 

A gathering of friends and family will be from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, August 8th at the Dickens Fire Department in Dickens, Iowa.
