Floyd Dean Wulf

February 10, 1951 — June 2, 2021

Larchwood, IA

Floyd Dean Wulf, age 70, of Herrick, SD, formerly of Larchwood, IA, passed away on June 2nd on his ranch in Herrick, South Dakota.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the Larchwood Cemetery in Larchwood, IA at 10:30AM on Friday June 11th.  There will be a lunch served at the Larchwood City Park following the service.  In lieu of sending flowers, please consider making a donation towards a memorial project that the family will be giving to the Herrick American Legion.

Arrangements are entrusted to Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood.

Floyd was born on February 10, 1951 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, to Emil & Liz Wulf. He was a graduate of West Lyon High School (1969) and remained close with many of his classmates. Floyd was a proud patriot and member of the United States Army after volunteering for the draft in 1970.  He served two tours in Germany and was the recipient of the National Defense Ribbon Good Conduct Medal.  For 25 years, Floyd worked with Wulf Bros (construction) in Larchwood, Iowa, where he was a beloved member of the community. Floyd was very close to his ten siblings, extended Wulf family and many nieces and nephews with whom he made countless memories. He went on to marry Jo, the “catch of his life”, in 2000 and inherited the role of stepdad to her three children.

Floyd spent the last 20 years as a rancher in Herrick, South Dakota where he quickly became a ‘local’ and especially enjoyed socializing with the ‘coffee boys’ each morning. To his six grandkids, Floyd was fondly known as “Wulfie”.

Floyd loved fishing. He was always dropping a line in the ranch stock dam and made countless fishing trips with his brothers and close friends. He never missed a deer hunt and recognized it as an opportunity to bring family and friends from near and afar, together.

Floyd was straightforward and had a signature smile that lit up a room. He was truly a genuine and good man. While we grieve, we also celebrate the privilege of knowing Floyd Dean Wulf.

Floyd is survived by his wife Jo Wulf (Sandager), stepson Sheldon Norton (Desirae), stepdaughter Carolyn Gossen (Cody), stepson Andrew Norton, six grandchildren; Connor, Cate, Rowan, Charley, Cullen and Cole, ten siblings; Helen Sharp, Leo Wulf (Wanda), Robert Wulf (Linda), Kenneth Wulf, Donald Wulf (Cathy), Ronald Wulf, Betty McDonnell (Mike), Clifford Wulf (Carol), Ray Wulf (Tina), twin brother Lloyd Wulf (Juanita), and countless nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Emil & Liz Wulf, brother-in-law William Sharp, two sisters-in-law; Yvonne Wulf and Jan Wulf, and nephew, Wade Wulf.
