He grew up near Doon, IA and attended Central Lyon Community School and graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1975. He was united in marriage to Lori Gerken on August 6, 1977, at Zoar Presbyterian Church rural George. They started their lives together on the farm where they still live today. Along with farming, Eldon worked nights for 16 years at Harker’s in Sioux Center. He also hauled eggs and drove truck for Pete Klien.
