     Douglas L. Kruger, age 76 of Bellevue, NE, formerly of George, Iowa, died Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his residence in Bellevue, NE

     Visitation will be Thursday, December 12th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present, at Jurrens Funeral Home of George.

     Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, December 13th at Zoar Presbyterian Church, near George, IA, with Pastor Ken Eberline officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, IA.

     Douglas Lloyd Kruger was born June 26, 1948, in Sibley, IA, the son of Alfred and Helene (Groen) Kruger. Douglas grew up in George, IA and attended George High School '66 and Morningside College '70 in Sioux City, IA. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Morningside College for football and wrestling. Douglas was a proud union ironworker for 40+ years in Sioux City IA, Denver CO and Omaha NE. He never was one to shy away from a good time with family and friends and was often the life of the party with his magnetic laugh, smile and storytelling. He lit up any room he walked into, never leaving anyone out of the fun. Douglas enjoyed fishing, playing golf, card games, woodworking, painting and restoring old items. He served as Commander of The Sons of the American Legion for 2 years. He was the proud father of three children and five grandchildren. Douglas passed away peacefully at home on November 28, 2024, surrounded by family after a 6 year battle with cancer.

     Douglas is survived by his three children; Temple and her husband Russell Woodley of Pittsburgh PA, Tanya and her husband Chad Powell of Owatonna MN, Derek Douglas Lloyd Kruger and his significant other, Angel Grillet of Omaha NE; five grandchildren, Logann Woodley of Pittsburgh PA, Jakob Woodley of Huntington Beach CA, Kade Kruger of Omaha NE, Avery Helene Rahman of Owatonna MN, Hattie Amelia Powell of Owatonna. Sisters Georgeanne and her husband Ron Robertson of Coal Hill AR, Jocele and her husband Paul Eubanks of Rock Rapids, and Aunt (Sis) Leanna DeBoer of Sibley. Four nieces and nephews, Kristin Scott, Cliff Eubanks, Sheila Eubanks, and Ryan Rachuy.

     Douglas was preceded in death by his parents Alfred L and Helene Kruger, and one brother David Kruger.
