Sibley
Douglas Eddy age 72 of Sibley, Iowa died Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2026, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley with Father Siby Punnoose, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Andrews Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00PM Friday, April 24th at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society and/or the Gift of Life Transplant House, Rochester, Minnesota.
Douglas J. Eddy was born January 9, 1954, in Sibley, IA. He was one of five children of Ralph Lee and Ardyce Ann (Attig) Eddy. He grew up on a family farm northwest of Sibley, to help his family with livestock and crop farming. He graduated from Sibley High School in 1972. He began working at Chase Bag Company in Sibley, in the fall of 1972.
Doug was united in marriage to Jolene Sue Drake on May 25, 1991, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley. Together they made their home in Sibley, where Doug continued working at Chase Bag Company, retiring in 2016.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in his younger years and then took up golf. Also liked to fish, especially ice fishing. He was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, Iowa State Cyclones and Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals. He enjoyed spending time in his yard, keeping it “mowed just so”.
He is survived by his wife, Jolene Eddy of Sibley, IA; three brothers, Bill (Jo) Eddy of Denver, CO, Pat (Julie) Eddy of Sibley, IA and Steve (Gloria) Eddy of Glendale, AZ; a sister-in-law, Jane Eddy of LaCross, WI; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ardyce Ann Eddy; parents-in-law, William and Joan Drake; a brother, Tom Eddy; a niece, Lesley Eddy; a nephew, Tyler Eddy; and a brother-in-law, Scott Drake.
