Donna M. Mogler age 90 of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester, IA.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, December 28th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA, with visitation from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Lester, IA.
Memorials are preferred to Lakeside Terrace
Donna Marie (Hartzler) Mogler, daughter of Reuben and Velma (Winkler) Hartzler, was born on January 24, 1933, in Sterling, Ohio. After graduation in 1951 from Wadsworth High School, she worked at Ohio Box Board Company in Rittman. She then moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1966 and became a personal secretary at Barton Malow. On November 29, 1953, Donna was baptized at the Apostolic Christian Church in Rittman, OH.
On October 11, 1992, she was united in marriage to Phil Mogler of Lester, IA. They lived in the Lester area until moving to Rock Rapids in the fall 2006. Through this marriage, she inherited five daughters - Janice Nohl (DeWayne - dec.), Hancock, MN, Joyce (Beirne) Messner, Hancock, MN, Jeryl (Doug) Grimm, Hiawatha, KS, June (Roger) Schulz, Bradford, IL, and Jaleen Mogler, Sabetha, KS. Phil and Donna shared 29 years of marriage, until Phil passed away June 2, 2021. Donna lived at Premier Estates for several years and very recently became a resident of Lyon Specialty Care. She passed away on December 19, 2023.
Phil and Donna enjoyed entertaining, traveling South in the winter, and visiting family and friends. They were always grateful for the love and care bestowed on them by their grandchildren that lived in the area. Donna always had a thankful way about her and was a pleasant companion for Phil as he aged. She lived a full life, and particularly enjoyed singing in the Detroit church choir, keeping meticulous records, needlework, and putting together puzzles, especially in the last few years.
Donna is survived by five daughters, 31 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Eleanor (Gene) Pamer, Lucille Blough, and brothers, Vincent (Jane) and Merle (Bonnie); in-laws Carolyn Hartzler, Howard (Lillian) Mogler, Frank Moser and many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Velma Hartzler, husband, Phil, and brothers, Marvin and Dale Hartzler.
