Darwyn Gene Wibben was born on March 10, 1956, in Sibley, IA, the son of Arthur & Lorraine (Bruns) Wibben. He grew up in George, IA, and graduated from George High School in 1974. He worked several places throughout his life, such as the DX Station in George, IA, and worked on the farm with his dad. He enjoyed working on and racing stock cars at area racetracks.

On April 16, 1977, he was united in marriage to Karen Modder at the St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Boyden, IA. To this union, four children were born, Loralye, Dawndralee, Kaeleigh, and Lance. In 1980, they moved to his parents’ farm northwest of George, where he continued to farm and raise a variety of livestock. He also worked for Packerland Packing Company in Hospers, IA, Siebring Manufacturing, and Sudenga Industries in George, IA. In 1993, he quit farming and began driving truck for various companies. Then, in 2011, his son, Lance, started riding along with him until retiring from trucking in 2021 at the age of 65. In 2012, he took up farming again with his daughter, Lora. Darwyn liked to go camping with his family, watching NASCAR races, farming, and tinkering in the machine shed doing maintenance on vehicles and machinery. He loved spending time with his grandkids, giving them rides in the side-by-side, and truly enjoyed being with his family. He was always well cared for and surrounded by love. His beautician, Kaeleigh, and his nurse, Dawn, played special roles; one made sure he was comfortable during his stays in the hospital, and the other one made sure he looked his best, especially when the hospital gave him crazy beard trims. He will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost forty-nine years, Karen Wibben; four children: Loralye Wibben of George, IA, her children, Landree & Lillee; Dawndralee (Daniel) Gisolf of George, IA, their children, Danyka & Deedryk; Kaeleigh (Chad) Bechler of George, IA, their children, Hudsyn, Hadleigh, and Haedyn; and Lance Wibben of Portland, OR; father-in-law, Lawrence Modder; aunt, Gussie (Keith) Hansman; two nieces, Shelle & Carrie; and nephew, Benji; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lorraine Wibben; brother, Quinten Wibben; and mother-in-law, Lorna Modder.
