Craig E. Block, age 70, of Little Rock, IA passed away at his home in Little Rock Friday, August 30, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA. with the Rev. Daniel Stanley, officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday evening, September 2, 2024 also at the Church.

Craig Eugene Block, age 70 years and 7 months, passed away peacefully in his home on August 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Clifford and JoAnn (Venenga) Block in Sibley, Iowa on January 2, 1954. He lived his entire life in the Little Rock area.

Craig attended school in Little Rock and graduated in 1972. He briefly pursued higher education at Morningside College before his passion for farming called him back. Craig dedicated himself to farming and operated a successful cattle operation until his health necessitated retirement. In addition to farming, Craig drove a school bus for Little Rock Community Schools for 30 years and served as a Lyon County Supervisor for 16 years. He also worked alongside Kevin Klaassen part-time for several years.

On August 30, 1974, Craig married the love of his life, Lois Feikema. They began their married life in Little Rock and later moved to a farm just north of town, eventually returning to reside in town. Craig and Lois celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 30, 2024. Craig was looking forward to celebrating this day with her and their family. 

Craig had a deep love for cattle and enjoyed attending county fairs, state fairs, and cattle shows. He enthusiastically shared this passion with his children and anyone eager to learn. Craig also had a great love for all types of sporting events as he cheered on many area high school and college teams. Craig was a member of Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock where he served as a Deacon. Active in the community, Craig was a member of the Little Rock Town and Country Club and participated in various church and community activities. Known for his sense of humor, Craig loved making others laugh and cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Craig is survived by his wife, Lois, of 50 years. Three children, Brenna (Chad) Koedam of Ireton, IA, Brian Block of Rock Rapids, IA, and Heather (Brady) Grafing of Rock Rapids, IA; six grandchildren, Logan Koedam, Cullen Koedam, Eden Koedam, Dalaney Block, Regan Grafing and River Grafing; Mother, JoAnn Block of Little Rock, IA; and four sisters Cheri (Jeff) Meyn of Boyden, IA, Crystal (Steve) Olson of Little Rock, IA, Corinne (Tom) Lonneman of Adrian, MN, and Carla (Clayton) Schilling of Ellsworth, MN; Mother-In-Law Alice Feikema of Rock Rapids, IA; three siblings-in law, Wayne (Judy) Feikema of Rock Rapids, IA, Jean (Jim) Klinkenborg of Sibley, IA, and Darin (Lori) Feikema of Norwalk, IA; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Block; father-in-law, W.L. Feikema; and sister-in-law, Karen Sprock.

Craig will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his community. His laughter and kindness touched many lives. He was an inspiration to many who knew him. 


In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to establish a support Fund for Craig's family affected by Kennedy's disease.
