Cheryl Koerselman, age 76 of George, IA, passed away on September 25, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation with the family present will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Hope Reformed Church in George, IA with Rev. Steven De Haan officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George, IA.

Cheryl Lynn (Gronewold) Koerselman was born May 22, 1949, the daughter of John and Betty (Krull) Gronewold. Her parents worked for Herman Schmidt and lived in a tenant house where Cheryl was born. She attended country school northwest of George and then Doon school until moving east of George in 1963. Cheryl attended George Community High School for four years. Cheryl graduated in 1967 from high school and then attended a 2-year school of business in Des Moines and was employed for “Look” magazine. Cheryl met Errol at a Pizza Hut in Des Moines, IA, where Errol was working. They were married in Hope Reformed Church at George on November 22, 1969. Three sons were born to this union, Derek, Jeremy and Corey. They lived in several different locations in Illinois until Errol passed away on June 11, 1981, in St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. Shortly after Errol’s death, Cheryl and her three boys moved from Hennepin, Illinois back to George to be closer to her family. From 1982 – 1984, she did daycare before starting to work for Milan Bragg at the George Newspaper office where she worked until 2024. On August 19, 1988, she was united in marriage to John Koerselman at Hope Reformed Church at George, IA. John and Cheryl made their home on John’s farm at Little Rock. Working at the newspaper, watching the Cub’s and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events were her passion. This past Saturday, September 20th, she was admitted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD where she died on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, at the age of seventy-six.

She is survived by her children, Derek (Melissa) Storm of George, IA; Jeremy Storm of George, IA; Corey (Amanda) Storm of George, IA; Rick Koerselman of Little Rock, IA; Jeff (Shawn) Koerselman of Little Rock, IA; Stacey DeJong of Sioux Falls, SD; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; her brother, Merle (Patty) Gronewold of George, IA; and sister, Barb (Mike) Modder of Orange City, IA; sister-in-law, Twila (Darrell) DeGroot of Sheldon, IA; brothers-in-law, Laverne (Carol) Koerselman of George, IA and Gerald DeKruif of Logan, IA; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Errol Storm and John Koerselman; her parents, John and Betty; and grandson, Peyton DeJong.
