Charles “Whitey” Kueter, age 84, of Hills, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Sanford Luverne Hospital in Luverne, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the family present at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, Iowa. There will be a prayer service at 7:00p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at The Church of St. Mary, with Father Sunny Dominic as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Larchwood Cemetery in Larchwood, Iowa.

Arrangements are in the care of Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills, Minnesota.

Charles Raymond Kueter was born on September 11, 1941, in Humboldt, South Dakota, the son of William and Lenora (Kuborn) Kueter. He grew up in Humboldt and later graduated from Humboldt High School.

On February 13, 1965, Charles was united in marriage to Myra Schlotfeldt at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They were blessed with five children, Joyce, Jennifer, James, Jeanette and Joe. Charles worked for the John Morrell Meat Packing Plant in Sioux Falls for 51 years.

Charles was a member of The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, the Hills-Beaver Creek School Board for a time, Local Union 304A, and the Moose Lodge in Sioux Falls.

He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins on television, as well as Westerns and game shows, especially Family Feud. He was especially proud of restoring his John Deere 50 tractor, which had been given to him by his father-in-law. One of his greatest enjoyments was mowing his lawn. He loved it so much that, if he could, he would have mowed all day, every day.

Charles passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Sanford Luverne Hospital, exactly three years to the day after moving into Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Joyce (Brian) Meffert of Larchwood, Iowa; James (Kari) Kueter of Hills, Minnesota; and Jeanette (Daryl) Spaans of Larchwood, Iowa; son-in-law, Matt Stephens of Filer, Idaho; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Joshua Kueter (Brianna Jonas), Kyle (Meaghan) Kueter, Casey Kueter (Kessey Aljets), Jayden Kueter, Kullyn Meffert, Braedyn Meffert (Kayla Rhoadarmer) and their children, Brykin, Brayden, and Bryson, Kira Spaans, Tristan (Krysta) Spaans and their son, Waylen, Ian Spaans, Cheyenne (Drew) Olsen and their daughter, Iyla, Zane Stephens and his children, Whylie and Willow, and Carson Stephens.

He is also survived by his two siblings, Carol Stinehart and Betty Jean Ketcham; along with his nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lenora Kueter; his wife, Myra Kueter; daughter, Jennifer Stephens; son, Joe Kueter; four brothers; and three sisters.
