Cecil “Moby” Brown, age 86, of George, IA passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society in George.

A Funeral will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday June 30, 2026 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA with the Rev. Kevin Lardy officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church.

Moby Brown, age 86, of George , Iowa died Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the George Samaritan Society with his family by his side. Cecil Merle “Moby” Brown Jr was born April 23, 1940 in Sioux City, IA to Cecil Merle Brown Sr and Ruth Grace Brown. When Moby was 8 years old he attended a Youth for Christ meeting. A counselor shared the gospel with him. He trusted in Jesus as his personal savior that day. He was baptized at the age of 13 in Paraguay by Les Pederson. Moby grew up as a missionary kid in Paraguay, South America. His love of horses and the Lengua Indian tribe forged a desire to go into full time ministry himself. He met and married his first wife, Arlis Willemssen of George, Iowa and quickly started making plans to return to Paraguay to work with the Lenguas. In 1964 Moby, Arlis, and their 2 daughters, Robin and Susan headed out to the mission field. Their third daughter, Darla, joined them in 1971. In 1976 the family returned to George where Moby worked as a welder at Sudenga Industries. He enjoyed serving at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in AWANA, as a youth leader and was the “sound man”. After losing his wife, Arlis of 45 years, Moby married Aletha Meinerts in 2008.

Moby is survived by his wife Aletha (Meinerts), his daughter Robin (Ward) Hamilton and their daughters Angela Lanyer, Gloria (Caleb) Davey, Jessica (Ryan) Wilder, and Vanessa (Mason) Martin. His daughter, Susan (Wally) Johnson and their children Kit (Heather) Johnson, Kari (Phillip) Emery and Amy (Todd) Nickel. His daughter Darla (Tim) Perry and 16 great grandchildren. His siblings Barb Miller. Doug (Rachel) Brown, Virginia “Gina” Slaughter, Lois Lambert and Dwight (Diana) Brown.

He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil Merle Brown Sr, Ruth Brown. Sisters, Ruthie Brown and Janet Waters and his first wife, Arlis.
