Carol Nachtigal

Carol Nachtigal, age 90 of Little Rock, IA, died Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Osceola Senior Living in Sibley, IA.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA, with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock, IA.

Carol J. (Boekhout) Nachtigal was born August 23, 1935, in Lyon County, IA the daughter of Henry and Johanna (Becker) Boekhout. Carol graduated from Little Rock High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Duane Nachtigal on March 24, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church parsonage in Little Rock. They made their home in Little Rock. Carol worked at local cafés and for almost 20 years she did custodial work for Frontier Bank in Little Rock. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends every morning, gardening, reading and doing word searches. She also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Indiana Fever basketball games. She was known for her delicious coconut cream pies. People would specifically ask for her pie at the church soup and pie supper. She loved her family and always enjoyed a visit from them. She will be greatly missed. In November of 2024 Carol became a resident of Osceola Senior Living in Sibley where she died this past Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the age of ninety.

Carol was survived by her daughter, Vicki (Dave) Julius of Little Rock IA; her grandchildren, Chad (Danielle) Julius of Spencer, IA and their children Anniston and Greyson; Alan (Lacey) Julius of Spirit Lake, IA and their children Witten and Sayla; Ashley (Derek) Heronimus of Sibley, IA and their children Kalen and Brooks; daughter-in-law Pam Nachtigal of Little Rock, IA and her children, David Nachtigal of Little Rock, IA and his children Kaylee and Braxton Nachtigal, Landree Wibben and Emma Nachtigal; Lacey (Erica) Nachtigal of Cheyenne, WY and their children Parker Nachtigal, Brian, Brayden and Madison Stauffacher; Mackenzie (Austin) Henning of Lismore, MN and their son Coy; and Boden Tritz of LeMars, IA; two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Boekhout of Rock Rapids, IA and Judy (John) Wibholm of Williams, IA along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Nachtigal; son, Terry Nachtigal; grandson, Tony Nachtigal; brother, Ronald Boekhout; and her parents Henry and Johanna Boekhout.
