Brian Joseph Doherty, affectionately known as “Bubba”, was born July 9, 1978, in Luverne, MN, the son of Robert and Ginger (Albers) Doherty. Bubba was raised in the Inwood – Larchwood area and attended West Lyon School, where he graduated in 1997. After high school he worked various places, such as Manley Tire & Oil in Beaver Creek, MN, Campbells Supply in Sioux Falls, SD, Novartis Animal Vaccines near Larchwood, IA and most recently, Pella Windows in Sioux Center, IA.
Bubba was an avid Star Wars fan, with R2-D2 being his favorite character. He enjoyed collecting RC cars, Transformer action figures, and LEGO sets. He lit up whenever he was talking about Transformers and LEGO, especially with his nephews and niece, who also shared his enthusiasm. He enjoyed gaming and was a pro at family game nights, especially when playing Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Bubba also loved reciting movie lines with his family—a tradition that became their own special way of communicating and always brought laughter. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage, a hobby he learned from and shared with his father. Bubba loved spending time with his beloved dog, Bailey. He will be remembered as "a big kid at heart."
He is survived by his sister, Ashley (Trenton) Elliott of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Nick Hasche of Sioux Falls, SD; two nephews, Tristan and Noah Elliott; one niece, Ariyah Elliott; paternal grandmother, Alice Doherty of Larchwood, IA; and many aunts, uncles, and other extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Doherty and Ginger (Albers) Doherty; and beloved dog, Daisy.
