Bonnie Winkowitsch

Bonnie Winkowitsch, age 69 of George, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center at Sheldon, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 16th, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, with Pastor Bryan Anderson and Pastor Daniel Winkowitsch, officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George, IA.

Bonnie (Kruger) Winkowitsch was born December 7, 1956, in Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene Robert “Bob” and Shirley (Graves) Kruger. Bonnie grew up just south of Sibley and graduated from Sibley High School in 1975. Following high school, she attended LeMars Beauty School. Bonnie was united in marriage to Dale Winkowitsch on August 15, 1975. They made their home in George, then Ashton, before moving to their farm near George in 1991. Over the years, Bonnie helped on the farm and worked at K-Products in Orange City, A&I in Rock Valley, Sibley Hospital in the dietary department, and Whispering Heights in Rock Valley. Due to her health, she retired from the workforce in 2020. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with Dale and her family, shopping, taking drives “to anywhere,” gardening and caring for her plants, cooking and baking, and traveling. She especially cherished the time she spent with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. Bonnie will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Dale, of George, Iowa; two daughters, Trisha (Todd) Rockman of Sibley and Tara (Heath) Hilbrands of George; her grandchildren, Nick (Allison) Hengeveld of Mesa, Arizona, Lexi Hengeveld and her fiancé, Max Gruis, of Sioux Falls, Taylor Hilbrands and her fiancé, Payton Steffens, of Primghar, and Alyssa (Dalton) Marco of Ashton; one great-grandson, Brooks Hengeveld; her mother, Shirley Kruger of Sibley; and three sisters, Brenda Kruger of Sibley, Barb (Mark) Hale of Milford, and Becky (Rob) Jensen of George. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Robert Kruger.
