Betty Jean Kramer, age 95, of Larchwood, IA died Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Fellowship Village in Inwood, IA.

Betty Jean Kramer was born March 6, 1931, in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of Harry and Alma (Rorem) Grotewold. She grew up on farms near the tri-state marker, by Larchwood, IA and attended country school. After graduating from high school, she lived and worked in the Sioux Falls area until she was united in marriage to Marvin “Moose” Kramer on July 16, 1955, in Larchwood, IA. Most of their married life they lived in Larchwood. On July 10, 1987, Betty’s husband, Marvin died. She later moved to Brandon, SD and Sioux Falls, SD, until she entered the Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA, and later, Fellowship Village.

Betty was a very special, interesting, private person. She especially cherished her two children.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Tom) Metzger and her son, Jerry (Denise) Kramer, both of Larchwood, IA; thirty-nine grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Grotewold and Mary Janet Hartman; one brother-in-law, Ron Kramer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 31 years; two brothers, Robert Grotewold and Gary Grotewold; and many extended family members on the Grotewold and Kramer side.

No service are planned, per Betty’s wishes. There will be no visitation.

A celebration of life for family will be at a later date.
