Beatrix “Betty” Ohling age 86, of Ellsworth, MN, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Visitation will be Friday, September 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bethel Reformed Church rural Little Rock, IA.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Bethel Reformed Church rural Little Rock, IA, with Reverend Scott Van Ravenswaay officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.
Beatrix “Betty” Irene Haan was born September 7, 1938, in Luverne, MN, the daughter of Auko and Gertie (Timmer) Haan. She was baptized and made confession of her faith as a teen at Hills Christian Reformed Church in Hills, MN. She attended Hills Christian School and graduated from Hills High School.
On April 18, 1958, Betty and Orvel were united in marriage at the Christian Reformed Church in Hills, MN. To this union three daughters were born, Irene, Audrey and Elaine. After marriage they moved onto the family farm by Ellsworth, MN. Betty was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School Craft, and sang in the choir. She also did embroidery, quilt squares, and towels for church and family. Betty’s husband Orvel and her family were the highlight of her life. She also loved working side by side on the farm with Orvel and going on bus trips together.
Betty is survived by her three daughters, Irene (Mike) Gacke, Audrey (Dave) Dobernecker, and Elaine (Dan) Rydell; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, Amanda (Paul) Sandbulte, and their children, Michaella (special friend, Andy), Hunter, and Kailee; Brian Gacke, and his children, Briley and Bryatt; Lisa (BJ) Kruse, and their children, Cayden, Leo, Miles, and Violet; Jeremy Dobernecker (Jessica Rye), and their children, Dominic (Nevaeh) Rye Dobernecker, and Ayden Rye Dobernecker (Trinity) and their son Ezekiel; Heather (Dylan) Klarenbeek, and their children, Seth, Brekyn, and Korbin; Cassy Rydell (fiancé, Cory Moon), and Nick (Summer) Rydell; and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvel Ohling; parents, Auko and Gertie Haan; sister, Fannie (Corse) Wiekeraad; and niece, Gladys Haan.
