Alfred Engelkes, age 85 of Sibley, IA passed away Friday morning, May 1, 2026 at Osceola Senior Living in Sibley.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Monday, May 4, 2026 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley.

Alfred Richard Engelkes was born on March 10, 1941, in Sibley, Iowa, to Albert and Bernice Engelkes. He received his education in Sibley and Sheldon. He worked at Sibley Poultry, Boyden Egg Plant, and Conveyer in Sibley.

He was united in marriage to Veronica Kor on July 20, 1970, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. They made their home in Sibley. Veronica passed away in 2010.

In Alfred’s younger days, he enjoyed riding bicycle, woodworking, talking on the phone, and spending time with his family and friends.

This past Friday, Alfred passed away at the Osceola Senior Living in Sibley. He will be greatly missed.

Alfred is survived by his brothers: Gary (Shirley) of Sibley, IA, Butch of Ocheyedan, IA, Richard of Sibley, IA; along with many extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica Engelkes; parents, Albert and Bernice Engelkes; sister, Marie Engelkes; and brothers, Jerry and Ronald Engelkes; nephews, Brian Engelkes and Mason Engelkes; and niece, Shelly Engelkes.
