Brent DeBoer was born on September 25, 1957 to Peter and Jane (Jansma) DeBoer in Rock Rapids, IA. He grew up on several farms in and around the Rock Rapids, IA and Steen, MN area and graduated from Luverne High School in 1975. He married Diane "Dee Dee" Steiner on November 25, 1978 in Rock Rapids, IA. After their marriage they moved to a farm east of Steen, MN where they resided until making the big 1/2 mile move to the family farm in 2002.
Brent was able to farm for most of his life, which was his passion. During the farm crisis of the 1980's he drove long haul trucks for several entities in order to supplement the family farm. He received his second chance at life on February 5, 2003 when he was given a gift of life through organ donation and received a double lung transplant. He continued farming as long as his health allowed and then mentored his son and nephew, teaching them what he knew about the land and livestock.
During his more active years Brent served on the Lyon County Co-Op Oil Company Board of Directors for six years and was a member of the Rock County Cattlemen's Association.
Throughout his life Brent enjoyed spending time with his children, fishing with family and friends, and car racing in his early years.
He is survived by his wife Diane "Dee Dee" DeBoer, two sons, Ben DeBoer (significant other, Kristi Oeding), and Adam (wife, Kelly) DeBoer; his parents, Pete and Jane DeBoer; mother in law, Dorothy Steiner; and two sisters, Jolene (husband, Richard) Van Den Brink and Pat (husband, Todd) Loger; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
He is proceded in death by his father in law Joe Steiner.
